Bessie Hanson 1864-1944

Mrs. Bessie Hanson, 80, who has been in ill health for some years, died Saturday evening at her home, following a last illness of about three weeks. Had she lived until Tuesday, Jan. 25, she would have observed her 81st birthday. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Osage, and burial was at Stacyville, where the family had lived for many years.

Mr. Hanson died before the family came here in 1929. Surviving sons and daughters are B. B. Hanson, West Union; Miss Bertha Hanson and Willard Hanson, at home; Harry Hanson, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Walter Wright, Osage; and Mrs. E. C. Ferguson, Adams, Minn. A son, Charles Hanson, died at Stacyville two years ago.

Bert B. Hanson, former city councilman of West Union, is widely known as an engineer on federal projects. Miss Bertha Hanson is principal of the West Union high school.

Mrs. Hanson was a member of the Methodist church. She was a woman of rare graces of character and personality.
