Pearl Larson

Funeral Services for Pearl Larson were held Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 10:30 A. M. in the Zion Lutheran Church at West Union, Iowa. The Reverend David Grant officiated. Special music was provided by Arthur Amundson, soloist and Barbara Temple, organist. Casket Bearers were: Jason Mitts, Daniel Schmitz, Andrew Schmitz, Oliver Larson, LaVerne Larson, and Quinton Olson. Burial was in the East Clermont Lutheran Cemetery, rural, Clermont, Iowa. The Ushers were Baltz Kamm, Jr. and Kenneth Springer. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements.

Pearl Dunn Carter Larson was born May 31, 1918, at Randleman, North Carolina, to Louis and Willa Dunn Carter. She passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in the Good Neighbor Home at Manchester, Iowa. She had reached the age of 86 years.

Pearl attended the school near her home. On October 9, 1943 she was married to Donald Irving Larson at Asheboro, North Carolina. To this union two daughters were born, Donaline and Joyce.

The couple lived in the Clermont and West Union areas. They farmed east of Clermont for several years, before moving to West Union in 1967. In the later years, she was employed at Schwann's in West Union. Pearl became a resident of the Good Neighbor Home on November 15, 2001.

She is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, George Carter, Joe Carter, John Samuel Carter, Lewis James Carter, William Carter, and Jack Carter; and three sisters, Margie Brown, Montie Norfleet, and Daisy Eunice Kesler.

Surviving are her two daughters, Donaline (John) Mitts, Delhi, IA, and Joyce (Alan) Schmitz, Stout, IA; three grandchildren, Jason (Monica) Mitts, Daniel Schmitz, and Andrew Schmitz; two great grandchildren, Jessica and Autumn; a sister, Ruth Spivey, and a brother, Edward Irving Carter, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Pearl was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in West Union and the Women of the ELCA, Ruth Circle. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Alzheimer Organization. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
