Mr. Horace Bird and Mrs. James Rathbun received word Monday of the death of their brother Jerry Bird of Hawthorne, Wisconsin, who died Sunday night. The body accompanied by the wife arrived in Oelwein Wednesday, where the funeral services were held at the Hintz funeral home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. James Wray of Hazleton.

Misses Marion and Sarah Campbell sang, "The Street's All Paved With Gold", "The End of the Road" and "Good Night and Good Morning". The pallbearers were six nephews, Walter and Carl Bird of Aurora, Benton, Noel, and Bird Rathbun of Stanley and Jerry Bird, Jr. of near Oelwein. He was laid to rest in Otsego cemetery in the family lot beside his parents. Following is the obituary:

Jerry Bird, of Levi and Sarah Bird, was born August 20, 1858 in Winnebago County, Illinois. His parents came to Iowa and settled at Scott Center when he was six years ofld and there he grew to manhood.

When about 20 years of age he went to Michigan for a few years, finally locating at Hawthorne, Wisconsin. In 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Mildred Adams and Hawthorne has since been their home.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Mildred, three brothers and one sister, Horace of Stanley, Clark of Aurora, Andrew of Oelwein and Mrs. Sylvia Rathbun of Stanley.
