Died - At the residence of Henry Coy, shortly after 8 o'clock Friday morning, February 17, 1888, Henry Koons, aged 78. Deceased was born in Pennsylvania in 1810. At the age of 25 graduated at a Medical College in that State. Was married in 1836. He practiced medicine for 25 years, came to Iowa in 1864 and purchased a farm at Coytown, three miles east of this place, on which he lived until the death of his wife which occured in 1875. Since then he has made his home with his two children, Mrs. W. A. Nelson and Mrs. Henry Coy. Mr. Koons stood exceedingly high in esteem of the people of this community. He was a conscientious, upright and intelligent citizen, and stern in his convictions of duty. The funeral occurred on Saturday afternoon at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Cook assisted by Rev. Russell, of Manchester. The remains were interred in the cemetery at Scott Center by the side of his wife.
