Harold L. Smock 1941-2007

A memorial service for Harold L. Smock, 66, of Wadena was held Friday, Nov. 30, at Schutte's Clermont Funeral Chapel in Clermont, Iowa, with the Rev. Rusty Phillips officiating.

Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville and Clermont handled the arrangements.

Harold died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at the Postville Good Samaritan Center.

Harold Leon Smock was born Aug. 27, 1941, on a farm near Fayette. He was the son of John and Hattie (Stevens) Smock.

Harold grew up in Wadena and also lived in the Postville area. He attended Valley High School in Elgin.

On April 25, 1963, Harold was wed to Barbara Kohrs. They became the parents of three children. The couple were later divorced.

In his earlier years, Harold worked for several area farmers and also at the Wadena Creamery. After moving to Postville, he was employed by Hall Roberts' Son Inc. and Iowa Excel. He also owned and operated Harold's Small Engine Repair.

Recently Harold had lived in Missouri, returning to Wadena in 2003.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darrin Smock; three brothers, John, Gordon and Rodney Smock; a sister, Mary; and a nephew.

Surviving are two sons, Steven Smock of Clermont and Bradley (Gina) Smock of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; four grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Mahoney of Cedar Rapids; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
