Last rites were held for Edwin Oscar Wagner, 91, Saturday afternoon, April 15, 1972, in the Burnham and Wood Funeral Home, West Union, Iowa. Rev. Byron Ayers officiated at the service. Pallbearers were Carl Wagner, Jr., Richard Koester, James Baumler, Paul Wagner, Scott Burgess, and Ed Adrian, all grandsons of Mr. Wagner. Burial was in the West Union Cememtery.
Edwin Oscar Wagner, son of Peter and Mary Huntsinger Wagner, was born September 11, 1880, in Dover township and was a lifelong resident of the township. His marriage to Miss Glenn Scott was on February 4, 1913, in the home of the bride. They were parents of seven children, three sons, Clair, Carl, Vern, and four daughters, Helen, Frances, Iva, and Amy.
He was a life long farmer in Dover township, a longtime member of Farm Bureau and Modern Woodmen of America, and served as a member of the school board for Dover School No. 5. He was baptized as a boy in Dover township, and regular in attendance at the United Methodist Church.
Immediate survivors include his wife, Glenn; two sons, Clair and Carl Wagner; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Baumler, Mrs. Frances Koester, Mrs. Iva Adrian and Mrs. Amy Burgess; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Vern Wagner; 17 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Burial: April 15, 1972, West Union Cemetery, Fayette County, Iowa.
