Tilmer Thompson

Services for Tilmer Thompson, who died Nov. 10 at the Palmer Lutheran Health Center at West Union, were held on Nov. 13 in the West Clermont Lutheran Church with burial at the God's Acre Cemetery at Clermont. Rev. Donald Loots officiated the services. Pat Butikofer was organist and a solo was sung by Arthur Amundson. The Schutte Funeral Services of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were: Ronald Guyer, James Kamaus, Les Thompson, Robert Thompson, Jerry Thorson, Henry Monroe, Jr. and Clarion Hagelie.

He was born August 29, 1911 to Albert and Helen (Bergen) Thompson in Clermont. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Tilmer attended the rural schools near home. On January 4, 1941 he married Ethel Nelson. They farmed in the Clermont, West Union, Elgin and Fayette areas for many years. When he retired, he moved to West Union. Ethel died May 3, 1968.

He married Elsie Brainard on November 22, 1969. Elsie died on October 12, 1980.

He is survived by 2 sons: Henry of Randalia and Ronald of Maynard; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother, Arthur Thompson of West Union; 4 sisters, Mrs. Lillian Thorson of Clermont, Mrs. Henry (Viola) Mueller of St. Olaf and Mrs. Ellen Hagelie of Ossian.

He is preceded in death by his wives, Ethel and Elsie, 2 sons, Dwayne, who died in infancy and Allan, a grandson, Todd Thompson, 4 brothers, Floyd, Joseph, James and Elmer, and 2 sisters, Gladys Guyer and Marian Thompson.
