Lila Evelyn Trudo

Lila Evelyn Trudo was born July 13, 1918, to Andrew and Lena (Torkelson) Kloster in Dover Township. She became a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in August 1918 and was confirmed on September 25, 1932, at Stavanger Lutheran Church, Ossian, Iowa. Lila attended country school in Dover Township #8.

On June 29, 1940, Lila was united in marriage to Lauren H. Trudo at Stavanger Lutheran Church at Ossian, Iowa. To this union were born four children: Ronald, Gerald, Dennis and Cheryl.

Lila was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who will be missed by all who knew her as a friend. She was an excellent homemaker and she enjoyed playing the piano. She had been a member of the American Legion Auxillary #15 for 18 years, belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church Women and was a member of Ruth Circle. Lila was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in West Union at the time of her death.

Lila died Wednesday, December 3, 1997, at Maplecrest Care Center in Fayette, Iowa, at the age of 79 following a long illness. Prior to her entering the nursing home she lived at 104 South Wells in West Union. Lila was preceded in death by her parents; Andrew and Lena Kloster; three brothers, Morris, Earl and Leo; two sisters, Arlene and Shirley.

Lila is survived by her husband, Lauren Trudo; three sons, Ron and wife Linda of Ogden, Iowa; Jerry and wife Ruthie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Dennis and wife Susan of Richland hills, Texas and one daughter, Cheryl and husband Dave Peters of Chaska, Minnesota. She is also survived by two sisters, Agnes Hughes of Santa Ana, California and Frances Veatch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandsons and one granddaughter.
