Mrs. Sarah Hewitt Nichols was born March 15, 1845 in the state of New York. She was married to S. P. Hewitt at Jordon, New York. Some years after the death of Mr. Hewitt she was united in marriage to Mr. Jason Nichols of Oelwein, Iowa, who preceded her to the great beyond March 28, 1914. Mrs. Nichols was stricken with apoplexy and departed this life March 14, 1918.
She was a faithful, devoted wife and a hard worker, believing in God and on the Savior, Jesus Christ. He last days were particularly days of meditation, consecration and communion with the infinite. Her views of Scripture teaching led her into fellowship with the Baptists with whom she remained in good standing. Those who knew her best believe most thoroughly that she has entered into the rest of the saints of God. Her last conscious hours were spent in reading the Prince of the House of David.
Funeral services were held from the church Saturday, March 16, conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. H. Gillet. Internment was in Oran Cemetery.
