Erma E. Klinger, 97, of Foley, Ala., formerly of Alpha, Iowa, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at her daughter's home in Foley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at West Union United Methodist Church; a luncheon at the church will follow.
Erma Ella (Westendorf) Klinger was born in Alpha on Aug. 7, 1910. She was the daughter of Henry and Effie (Conklin) Westendorf.
Erma attended Alpha Consolidated School and graduated in 1927. She came to West Union to work at the Loftus Cafe and later worked at Carrothers Cafe, Waldrons, The Empress, and for 22 years at Humphry Cafe.
On Sept. 18, 1928, Erma married Paul L. Klinger. They were the parents of one daughter, Nanda.
Erma was an active member of the United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.
She was also a Girl Scout leader for nine years.
Preceding Erma in death were her parents; her husband, Paul; two brothers, Irwin (Laura) Westendorf and Gerald (Adaline) Westendorf; and two sisters, Elva (Darold) Martin and Shirley (Irvin) Senner.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Nanda Livingston of Foley, Ala.; a sister, Martha (John) Williamson of West Sun City, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
