Funeral services for Frances J. Dreier, 93, of Postville were held Friday, Aug. 31, at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville with the Rev. Gary Catterson officiating.

Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Eric Block, Lee Block, Scot Block, Fred Vagts, Tim Vagts and Matt Collins.

Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Frances died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at the Postville Good Samaritan Center.

Frances Josephine (Erhardt) Dreier was born Feb. 21, 1914, to David and Ida (Burrow) Erhardt near Clermont in Fayette County.

She attended Postville Junction Country School near her home.

Frances was baptized Dec. 9, 1933, at First Baptist Church in Elgin.

On Aug. 9, 1934, she was wed to Herbert George Arnold Dreier at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Elgin. To this union four children were born.

Frances worked alongside her husband on their farm for many years.

She was a member of the VFW and became a Gold Star Mother in 1970.

Preceding Frances in death were her parents; her husband, Herbert, in 1988; a son, Mark, who was killed in Vietnam in 1969; four grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond, Frankie, and an infant brother; and three sisters, Clara Kostman, Florence Ashbacher and Marian Wickham.

Frances is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann (Gerald) Vagts of West Union, Ida (Marvin) Block and Pauline Collins, both of Oxford; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mae Newton of Dubuque; and many other relatives.
