Lorraine Linda (Huber) Fisher of West Union died of age-related causes on Friday morning, Sept. 7, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union, with the Rev. Dale Rausch as celebrant.

Interment was in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Lawler. Casket bearers were Jason Fisher, Ryan Fisher, Grant Robinson, Chris Fisher, Eric Fisher, Bryan Moore and John Fisher Jr.

Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, was in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine Linda (Huber) Fisher was born April 20, 1926, on a farm near St. Lucas to Alphonse and Elizabeth (Reicks) Huber.

After graduating from Lawler High School, she attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, where she graduated with honors.

Lorraine then taught all grades in country school in Chickasaw County.

On Nov. 26, 1945, she was united in marriage with Carl Fisher at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Nine children were born to this union. The couple farmed north of Lawler for 26 years.

In 1970 Lorraine moved to West Union, where she lived for approximately 30 years. Then in 2006, due to declining health, she moved to Country View Long-Term Care Facility in Black Hawk County.

Lorraine was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the Lay Carmelites, the Altar and Rosary Society.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Carl; a son, Joseph; two brothers, Henry and Art Huber; and two sisters, Marie Wenthold and Elma Uhlenhake.

Lorraine is survived by six sons, Jerry Fisher and Marty (Judy) Fisher, both of West Union, Jim (Janell) Fisher of Moville, John Fisher of St. John's, Mich., Bob (Susan) Fisher of Toddville, Walter Fisher of Waterloo; two daughters, Liz (David) Robinson of Colo and Mary Jo (Marty) Miller of Calmar.

Additional survivors include 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Lechtenberg of Festina and Ethel Mae (Kenneth) Schneberger of New Hampton; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
