MRS. OLE (Nina Henrietta Loftsgard) AMUNDSON

Rites Held For Mrs. Amundson

Nina Henrietta Loftsgard Amundson, daughter of Nels Loftsgard and Anna Jellum Loftsgard, was born on June 23, 1891 in Clayton County. She was baptized and confirmed at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder.

On June 4, 1913 she was united in marriage to Ole Amundson at Marion Lutheran Church. To this union was born six sons and one daughter.

They made their home on a farm east of Clermont until 1920 when they moved to a farm north of Clermont where they lived until 1954, then moving to Clermont where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church, the East Clermont ALCW and also the West Clermont ALCW.

She passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville on Saturday afternoon, May 7, after several months illness. She was 74 years, 10 months and 14 day at the time of death.

Preceding her in death were her husband; one son, Clifford, who died in infancy; her parents; a brother, Louie; and one granddaughter, Julie Amundson.

She leaves to mourn her passing, five sons, Almer and Clarence of Postville, Morris of Elgin, Arthur and Kenneth of Clermont; one daughter, Norene (Mrs. Gordon Landsgard) of St. Olaf; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Olson and Mrs. Tillie Amundson of Clermont, Mrs. Helgina Nelson of West Union, Viola (Mrs. Roy Johanningmeier) and Sophie Loftsgard of Luana; three brothers, Ole of Postville, Theo. N. of Clermont and Melvin of West Union. There are also 24 grandchildren, one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 10, 2:00 p.m., at the East Clermont Lutheran Church with the pastor, Rev. Roger Peterson, officiating. Burial was at the East Clermont Cemetery.
