Services For Clermont Woman

Funeral services for Thea Genevieve Anderson were held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 p.m. at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. The Reverend Duane Berg officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the East Clermont Cemetery.

Thea Genevieve Anderson, daughter of Andrew S. and Lena (Skoien) Anderson, was born August 6, 1902 in Clayton County. She died at her home in Clermont November 4, 1981.

She was baptized September 14, 1902 by Dr. Jacob Tanner and confirmed May 19, 1918 by Rev. Hjortholm, both at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. She attended the Brorby School in Clayton County and also a college at Red Wing, Minnesota. She taught in the rural schools in the Clermont and Gunder area.

Genevieve remained in the Clermont area where she maintained a home for her parents and worked for other families including the Larabee family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Lydia) Thorson. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Eugene (Lydia) Murphy, cedar Rapids, three great nephews: David, Edward and Gary Schneider, all of Postville; three great nieces: Mrs. David (Karen) Roberts, Eldridge, Mrs. Jeff (LuAnn) Alber, West Union, and Mrs. Lowell (Melinda) Hough, Elgin; and nine great, great nephews and nieces.

Genevieve was a member of the East Clermont Lutheran church and served as church organist for many years.
