MILDRED PAPE

Funeral services for Mildred Pape, 82, were held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1983 at the Zion Lutheran Church, West Union. The Rev. Victor Baderschneider and the Rev. Dave Nerdig officiated. Burial was in the West Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home made the arrangements.

Mildred Beatrice Pape, daughter of John K. and Gertena (Quass) Osmundson, was born Sept. 13, 1901 in Dover Township, Fayette County. She died Sunday, Oct. 9, 1983 at Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union.

She married Henry L. Pape March 21, 1923. To this union six children were born. They farmed in the Eldorado area until 1960 when they moved to West Union.

Mildred was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church, Ossian. She was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Eldorado, until 1972 when she transferred to Zion Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Priscilla Circle and the Zion Lutheran Church Women's Auxiliary.

She was educated in the rural schools of Fayette County.

Mildred was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry, a sister, Lillie Pape; and a brother, Lloyd Osmundson.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Herbert (Jeanette) Vagts, West Union, Mrs. Lawrence (Kathleen) Traeger, Hawkeye, and Mrs. Dwaine (Donna) Brockmeyer, Calmar; three sons: Donald Pape, Glendale, AZ; Daryl Pape, Hawkeye, and Howard Pape, West Union; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
