MRS. ARCHIE C. (Irene Marie Brandt) OSTLIE
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Irene Ostlie on Saturday, September 13, 1958 at 2:00 p.m. at the Clermont Lutheran Church. The services were officiated by the Rev. John D. Kronlokken.
Irene Marie Brandt, daughter of John and Emma Brandt, was born September 18, 1896 near Postville. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Postville and attended rural schools near Postville.
She was married in 1915 to Archie C. Ostlie of Clermont and together they made their home on a farm just north of Clermont.
To the family were born two sons. In 1934 Mr. Ostlie died, and the family remained on the farm until 1942 at which time Mrs. Ostlie moved to Castalia to care for her invalid mother until her death. In 1945 she came to Clermont, and her father made his home with her until his death last year.
Mrs. Ostlie was admitted to Iowa City hospital for a few days at the end of July and has since lived with her sister in West Union.
She passed away September 9 at the hospital in Postville, just a few days short of her 62nd birthday.
Among those who mourn her passing are her two sons: James of Waterloo, and Leo of Camden, New Jersey; one sister, Mrs. Earl Bachelder of West Union; and two brothers, Walter Brandt of Castalia, and Oran Brandt of Maquoketa. There are also four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
