HAWKEYE - Funeral services for Dale John Copp will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawkeye, with the Rev. Troy Pflibsen officiating. Burial will be in Hawkeye Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye.
Mr. Copp, 71, died Monday evening, June 1, 1998, at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis., from heart failure.
He was born May 10, 1927, at Waucoma, the son of Earl and Bernice Woodson Copp. He was educated in rural area schools and Hawkeye High School. On Oct 3, 1948; he married Edith Schultz at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the area for many years. Mr. Copp was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, served on the board of directors for Hawkeye Co-op, the D.H.I.A., and the Fayette County A.S.C.S., and had been a member of the Hawkeye Conservation Club.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; four sons, Daryl (Judy), Dennis (Janet) and Lee Alan, all of Hawkeye, and Michael (Julie) of Sumner; two daughters, Sheryl Koch and Caryl (David) Leyh, both of Sumner; 19 grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald "Doc" of Fayette, and Larry of Hawkeye; and two sisters, June Schulta of Hawkeye and La Vera Dralle of Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arlo and Russell.
Memorials may be made in his name to Palmer Lutheran Health Center Renal Dialysis Unit, West Union.
