HAWKEYE – Blythe E. Van Bogart, 89, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 23, at the United Methodist Church, Hawkeye. Inurnment: Bethel Cemetery rural Hawkeye. Visitation: Friends may call one hour preceding services at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made to the West Union Good Samaritan Alzheimer's unit.
Blythe E. Van Bogart, the daughter of Clarence and OrIa Pitts, was born April 23, 1917 in Sanborn, Iowa. She married Charles Van Bogart on June 20, 1937 at Nashua. Blythe and Charles farmed west of Alpha, and south of Hawkeye, until 1956, when they moved into town. Blythe worked for the grocery store and the Hawkeye Cafe for several years.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Mavis,Van Bogart of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; her special neighbors; LaVon Schnor, Craig and Marlene Woodson, and Ruth Pieper.
