Ruth Nagel Wolfs

Services were held for Ruth Wolfs. 75, Friday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m., at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian. The Rev. Wayne Ellingson officiated.

Ruth Mary Wolfs, daughter of Ben and Elsie (Schnuelle) Nagel, was born Aug. 6, 1917 at Postville. She died Monday, Feb. 15, at the home of her daughter, in Waterloo. Baptized Oct. 2, 1917, she was later confirmed in 1932 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. She attended the Postville Schools.

September 12, 1942, Ruth was united in marriage with Arthur Wolfs at Hattiesburg, Miss. They became the parents of four children, and farmed in Fayette County all of their lives.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; a daughter, Diana; and two brothers, Clifford and Hartley. Survivors include a son, Gary, of Elkader; two daughters, Janice Wolfs of Waterloo and Gloria and her husband, Mark Elsbernd of Calmar; four grandchildren; Breelyn, Reid, Ivy and Elyse Elsbernd. She is also survived by three brothers: Arnold, LaVerne and John, and a sister, Gladys.

Ruth had been a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church, and was active in the WELCA.

Special music at her funeral service was provided by Breelyn Elsbernd, and the Ossian Quartet, Mike Biedenfeld, Richard Hendrickson, Lee Hendrickson and Vernon Lofte, accompanied by Irmgard Ellingson.

Casketbearers were Mark Colvin, Ernest Wolfs, Clinton Schnuelle, Howard Hilgerson, David Wolfs and Doug Colvin.

Schutte Funeral Service, Postville and Clermont, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.
