GRACE "Sue" VERONICA (Durnan) WALKER 1940-1989

A funeral mass for Grace Walker was held Tuesday, Jan. 2, 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Clermont. Rev. Paul Otting officiated. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Clermont. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements.

Grace "Sue" Veronica Walker, daughter of Leo and Grace (Stahr) Durnan, was born Nov. 1, 1940 at Fairbank, IA. She died Dec. 30, 1989 in University of Wisconsin Hospitals, Madison, WI.

She was raised on a farm in the Wadena-Elgin area with her 18 brothers and sisters. Grace had 5 children of her own. In 1962 she had been married to Clyde Walker of Elma, who had 4 young children. She had lived in Postville and there had married Aldean Dietrich. Grace had been employed by Norplex/Oak in Postville.

She is survived by her parents, Leo and Grace Durnan of Clermont; 2 sons, Patrick Walker of Hayward, WI and Mark Walker of Postville; 2 daughters, Mrs. John (Denise) Leuchtenmacher of Postville and Mrs. Richard (Josephine) Wheeler of Wadena; a stepson, Russell Walker of Mason City; 3 stepdaughters, Mrs. Doug (Pam) Auchstetter of Rudd, IA, Mrs. Mark (Katherine) Cook of Rochester, MN and Gail DeFries of Charles City; 16 grandchildren; 11 brother: Charles of Miami, AZ, Joseph of Alta Vista, IA, Michael of Arlington, James and John of Thomaston, GA, Mark of Elkader, IA, Bernard of Walker, IA, Paul of Clermont, Francis of Globe, AZ, Anthony of Claypool, AZ and Leo Durnan, Jr. of Elgin, IA; 7 sisters: Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Turner of Evansdale, IA, Mrs. Terry (Regina) Ellerman of Mendon, IL, Mrs. James (Lucy) Rasmussen of Leland, IA, Mrs. Mark (Rebecca) Skretta of Ft. Akinson, IA, Martha Sutter of Calmar, IA, Mrs. Kenneth (Veronica) Boyer of Hawkeye, IA and Mrs. Mark (Marie) Landsgard of Postville and many relatives and friends.

Casket bearers were Mark, Patrick and Russell Walker, Richard Wheeler, Aldean Dietrich and Francis Durnan.
