Jerry Lee Wander
Funeral services for Jerry Wander were held Saturday, July 22, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church at Clermont, Iowa. Father Leo Riley officiated. The lector was Rose Wander and the altar boys were Josh Heller and Jason Wander. Special music was provided by the Church Choir which was accompanied by Kathy Fassbinder, organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in God's Acre Cemetery.
Jerry Lee Wander, son of Jacob J. and Bertha E. (Tinderholt) Wander was born May 27, 1940 in Pleasant Valley Township near Clermont, Iowa. He died Wednesday, July 19, 1995, in Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 55 years, one month and 22 days.
He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Jerry was graduated from the Valley High School in 1958. He farmed with his father on the farm west of Clermont. Later, Jerry joined the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam. After returning from the military service, he came back to the farm, where he worked for several years.
On September 19, 1969, he was married to Christine Pape in St. Peter's Catholic Church at Clermont, Iowa. The couple has lived in their present home on Spring Street since that time. Jerry had worked as a fencing contractor for the last few years.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving is his wife, Christine, two brothers, James Wander and his wife, Julienne, and Steven Wander and his wife, Eileen, all of Clermont, Iowa; one sister, Betty Halverson of Elgin, Iowa, many nephews and nieces and his dog, Sport.
Jerry was a member of the Sheehan-Olson American legion Post No. 375 of Clermont.
The casket bearers were Michael Halverson, Bruce Halverson, Steven Peters, Michael Heller, Gary Blockhus, Kelly Wander, Kim Wander and Kyle Wander.
