Margaret (Balk) Blong 1901 - 1986

Waucoma - Funeral services for Margaret Blong, 84, were held Wednesday, July 9, 1986, at St. Mary's Catholic church, Waucoma, with Rev. Vincent Simon officiating, assisted by Rev. Schallau of Coggon, and Rev. Jim Blocklinger of Alta Vista.

Mrs. Blong died Sunday, July 6, 1986, at St.
Joseph Ccommunity Hospital, New Hampton, after a brief illness.

Pallbearers were Donald Blong, Charles Franzen, David Dietrich, Richard Balk, James Balk and Cletus Blong. Burial was in St. Rose cemetery, rural Waucoma. Larkin-Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A Blue Army Devotion Society rosary was held at 3 p.m., St. Mary's Rosary Society rosary at 4 p.m., a parish scripture at 7:30 p.m., and a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in Lawler.

Margaret (Balk) Blong was born December 24, 1901, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Rausch) Balk. On March 5, 1935, she was married to Paul Blong at Waucoma.

She was a member of St. Mary's chcurch, the Blue Army Devotion Society, the Carmelites and St. Mary's Rosary Society.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs.
Paul (Theresa) Dietrich, Alta Vista; and Mrs. Bernard (Helen) Franzen, St. Lucas; four sons, Lawrence, Albert and Raymond, Waucoma; and Robert, Coggon; 19 grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Balk, Lawler; and Lawrence Balk, New Hampton; and one sister, Mrs. Eleanor Lynch, Lawler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, on October 21, 1985; two sisters, Elizabeth Blong and Theresa Balk; and two brothers, Herman Balk and Hugo Balk.
