Pliny F. Wagg, Jr.
MAYNARD - Funeral services for Pliny F. Wagg, Jr., will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Floral Hills Chapel Funeral Home, rural Oelwein, with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour before
services Monday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Wagg, 72, died early Friday morning, June 12, 1998, at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 26, 1925, at rural Wapello, the son of Pliny F. and Mary Stone Wagg. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, in the 82nd airborne division. On March 30, 1957, he married Evelyn J. Gibbler in Stockton. Mr. Wagg had previously worked as a millwright for Elevator Contractors in Des Moines.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Maynard; two sons, David (Karen) of Stanton, and Scott of Waterloo; two daughters, Kathryn (Allen) Chapman and Sheryl (Rodney) Butikofer, both of Elgin; two brothers, George and Max, both of Mediapolis; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Nona Wagg; and one brother Howard.
