WEST UNION - Funeral services for Maria Gallardo Pinero will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union, with the Rev. Dale Rausch officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, West Union. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Fayette, where there will be a 7 p.m. scripture service.
Mrs. Pinero, 95, died of natural causes Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at her home in West Union.
She was born Dec. 10, 1902, in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain, the daughter of Manuel G. Gindon and Guadalupe P. Jimene. She graduated from Corazon: La Madre Francesa in 1919. In 1942, she married Francisco Medina Saenz in Puerto de Santa Maria. He preceded her in death May 10, 1956. While in Spain, Maria worked as a caretaker, laundress and housewife. She retired in December 1972 and immigrated to the United States. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and reading.
Survivors include one son, Manuel; five daughters, Milagro, Concepcion, Mercedes, Guadalupe and Francisca; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Concepcion G. Pinero.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francisco; one son and one daughter in infancy; one brother; and one sister.
