MAYNARD - Funeral services for Albert F. Bergman will be 11 am. Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick C. Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, at 2 p.m.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bergman, 90, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, 1997, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein, after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 5, 1906, in McGregor, the son of Edward and Katherine (Kramer) Bergman. He married Dorothea A. Nugent on May 15, 1927, in Waterloo. He was a longtime Maynard resident. He owned and operated the Maynard Locker form 1946 to 1972. He was a former Maynard City Councilman, and member of the volunteer fire department and Maynard Booster Club.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth A. (Annabel) of Wheaton, Ill., and Robert N. (Regina) of Maynard; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward of Scottsboro, Ala.; and a sister-in-law, Alice Bergman of Waupaca, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothea, March 5, 1991; one sister, Katherine M. Bergman; and a brother, Robert.
