WEST UNION - Funeral services for Rosie Nabholz were 10:30 am. Wednesday, May 27, at Holy Name Catholic Church, West Union, with the Rev. Rausch officiating. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery. The Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, was in charge of arrangements where a parish rosary and scripture service were held during visitation Tuesday.
Mrs. Nabholz, 76, died Sunday morning, May 24,1998, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein, after a long illness.
She was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Oelwein, the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Rizzuti) Pirillo. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1939. On May 11, 1946, she married Milford Nabholz. The couple was in charge of dairy operations at the Mental Health Institute, Independence, in the late 1940s. They farmed east of Oelwein for a time, and then moved to a farm near Hawkeye. They later moved to a farm near West Union. Mrs. Nabholz was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and active in church groups.
Survivors include one son, Norman of West Union; one daughter, Mary Jo (Pete) Krejci of Chesterfield, Mo.; three grandchildren; two great -grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Pirillo of Oelwein, and Joseph Pirillo of West Union; one sister, Kay Doyle of Oelwein; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milford in 1980; and three sisters, Mary Sue Pirillo, Amy Corkery and Eleanor Vyverberg.
