OELWEIN - Naomi D. Getz-Brickman, 90, of Oelwein, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 24, 2007, at Mercy Living Plus of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. John Lutheran Church, Fairbank, with the Rev. Edwin Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Littleton Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, 221 N. Frederick, Oelwein, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Naomi D. Smith was born July 1, 1916, at Aurora, the daughter of Earl Thornton and Frances Viola (Lennon) Smith. She received her education at the Waverly Public School. Naomi was united in marriage to Leslie N. Getz on Sept. 25, 1937, at Oelwein. They farmed in the Sumner area from 1945 until moving to Littleton in 1974. They enjoyed their time together at Littleton until Leslie's death on Aug. 20, 1985. Naomi moved to Oelwein in 1987. She was united in marriage to Richard H. Brickman on Sept. 16, 1995 at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairbank. The couple made their home in Oelwein.
Naomi was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Brickman of Oelwein; one son, Leslie J. (Joan) Getz of La Porte City; one daughter, Patricia (Joseph) Kuenz of Cuba, Mo.; six grandchildren, Emily Getz, Abby Getz, Hannah Getz, Melisa Jacobsen, Jennifer (Byron) Smock and James Jacobsen; two great-grandchildren, Jessica Yoder and Maria Jacobsen; one sister Mildred Rundle of Oran; one brother, James Smith of Cypress, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, by her parents; her first husband, Leslie; a sister, Frances "Peg" Baier; and two brothers, Raymond Smith and Bob Loeb.
