OELWEIN - Funeral services for Ray K. Slater will be 2 p.m., Monday, Nov 11, at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein, with the Rev. Kenneth Dalke of the Stanley Union Church officiating. Burial will be in Madison Cemetery, rural Aurora. Friends may call for one hour before service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Slater, 67, died of cancer Friday, Nov. 8, 1996, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
He was born Nov. 5, 1929, on a farm near Aurora, the son of Oral R. and Ruby M. (Duckett) Slater. He had worked as a lathe operator in Rockford, Ill. Mr. Slater was a member of the American Legion Ross Reid Post #9 in Oelwein.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Wilson of Waterloo; three grandchildren; one sister, Ruth King of Mason City; and two brothers, his twin, Roy Slater of Chariton, and Charles Slater of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Lyle, and one sister, Lois.
A memorial fund has been established.
