OELWEIN - Funeral services for Dale Irvine Jensen will be 10:30 am. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Hazleton. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and one hour before services at the church Saturday.
Mr. Jensen, 81, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 1997, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, after a short illness.
He was born May 18, 1916, in Oelwein, the son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Helm) Jensen. He graduated from Oelwein High School in 1934. On June 17, 1935, he married Anna Helene Hein in Independence. He worked for the Chicago Great Western Railroad for four years. Mr. Jensen moved to Bremerton, Wash, and worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a machinist for 31 years, until his retirement Nov. 30, 1971. He returned to Oelwein in 1973. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, and had been a resident of Grandview HealthCare Center the past six months.
Survivors include his wife, Anna of Oelwein; one daughter, Betty Ohl of New Hampton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
