OELWEIN - Funeral services for Lisetta Johanne Kiel will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein.
Mrs. Kiel, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at Mercy Living Plus Oelwein, after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 8, 1912, in Arlington, the daughter of Charles and Lizzie (Kemper) Roloff. She married Alvin Dale Kiel on Nov. 28, 1934 in Hampton. Mrs. Kiel was a homemaker and worked 15 years as an audit clerk for Oelwein Chemical Company (OCCO). She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for 65 years during which time she was in the choir and a member of WELCA. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge where she was secretary for 10 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Strange of Kansas City, Kan., and Shirley (Glenn) Mitchell of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one niece, Linda (Ron) King of Oelwein; and two sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Alvin in 1989; four brothers; and three sisters.
A memorial fund has been established for Zion Lutheran Church Oelwein.
