OELWEIN - Graveside services for Carole Ann Whitaker will be 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. in Church of Christ-Eastside.
Mrs. Whitaker, 56, died of cancer Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born Jan. 27, 1941, in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Herbert and Paula (Murphy) Proppe. She attended Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, Calif. On Nov. 22, 1962, she married Roger Dean Whitaker in Henderson, Nev. A homemaker, Mrs. Whitaker was a member of Church of Christ-Eastside, where she helped with the Mission Team and Bible Study.
Survivors include her husband, Roger; one son, Ronald D. of Florence, Ariz.; four daughters, Laurice "Missy" (Richard) Trow of Salina, Kan., Jayne Whitaker of Waterloo, Winde M. Whitaker of Springfield, Mass., and Angie (John) Powell of Oelwein; five grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Proppe of Little Rock, Ark., and Richard Proppe of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and four sisters, Kathy Arryo and Penny Murphy, both of California, Sue Collins of Michigan, and Heidi Balsitis of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children at birth, Colleen and Russell; and one sister, Wendy.
A memorial fund has been established.
