Elva L. Lamphere
OELWEIN - Funeral services for Elva L. Lamphere will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Phyllis Wolkenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Aurora. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the White Funeral Home Independence.
Mrs. Lamphere, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein.
She was born July 12, 1914, in Fayette County, the daughter of Lou Henry and Kate Pauline Kraft Chase. She attended country schools. On Sept. 22, 1934, she married Harold James Lamphere in Galena, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1992. Mrs. Lamphere was a member of the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald of Randalia, and Verdell of Aurora; two daughters, Betty (William) Zajicek of Janesville, Wis., and Karen Rohrig of Aurora; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold; one sister, Norma Sorensen; and one son, Marvin.
