FAYETTE - Funeral services for Donald Edward Blue, Sr. will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette, with the Rev. Charlotte Mallott officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Fayette. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Blue, 68, died Monday evening, June 30, 1997, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, after a sudden illness.
He was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Postville, the son of Eddie Vargo and Deva Della Seybert Blue. He married Betty Green on Jan. 20, 1946, at the Wesleyan Church parsonage in Fayette. Mr. Blue worked for Lester’s Buildings, Brehme Construction and Loven Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Sugar Bowl coffee crowd.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; five daughters, Linda (Charles) Moore of Junction City, Kansas, Sinda (Arthur) Teepe of Marathon, Jane (Kirby) Miller of Randalia, Penny (David) Teepe of Sumner, and CoeAnn (Mark) Cornish of Hazleton; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Richard of Independence, Laverne of Sumner, Nathen of Waucoma, and Keith in Kentucky; and one sister, Susan Howe of Jericho.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sons, Donald Edward "Butch" Blue, Jr. in 1977, Eddie Dean, Terry Dale and James Laverne, all who died in infancy; one son who was stillborn; two grandsons; and one sister, Edna Mae Paschal.
