FAYETTE - Funeral services for Linus Hildebrand, Jr., will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Fayette, with Msgr. L. H. Reicks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, rural Fayette. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. scripture service.
Mr. Hildebrand, 66, died Saturday evening, June 14, 1997, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 6, 1931, in Volga, the son of Linus and Viola Bockenstedt Hildebrand. He attended rural Fayette County schools and later served in the National Guard. On Aug. 11, 1951, he married Marilyn Boleyn. She preceded him in death Sept. 2, 1982. Mr. Hildebrand worked for Hoffman Brothers Construction Company in Independence from 1960 to 1985. He then worked for Larson Construction, also of Independence, from 1985 to 1990. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Gerald (Brenda) of Fayette; four daughters, Kathryn (David) Maness of Arlington, Coreine Hildebrand of Independence, Roberta Hildebrand of Arlington, and Tina (Paul) Salisbury of Waukee; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Howard and Doyle of West Union, and Dennis of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; Marilyn; and two brothers.
