Frank L. Fitz, Jr.
OELWEIN - Funeral services for Frank Lee Fitz, Jr. will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Brian Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Westgate. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church. Mr. Fitz, 36, died at his home Tuesday afternoon Dec. 23, 1997, after a sudden illness.
He was born Aug. 30, 1961, in Oelwein, the son of Frank and Anna Thompson Fitz. He was employed as welder at United Farm Tools in Oelwein. He had lived the past two years in Oelwein and previously lived in Westgate.
Survivors include one daughter, Keri Stensgard and one son, Jami Stensgard, both of Minnesota; his father, Frank Fitz, Sr., of Oelwein; five brothers, Gene (Shirley) of Waterloo, John (Betty) of Dubuque, Ronald (Janet) of Warren, Ohio, Russell of Clarinda, and Harold (Anna) of Bucyrus, Ohio; six sisters, Patty Shinneman of Fort Dodge, Jodeen Fitz of Jesup, Barbara Welsh, Shirley (Larry ) Davis, Marsha Wilkinson, all of Oelwein and Rhonda (Robert) Smith of Fort Smith, Ark.; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend Kim Pressley of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna; three brothers-in-law, Dennis Wilkinson, Al Shinneman and Frank Cannon; and a great-nephew, Luke Cannon.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
