FAYETTE - Funeral services for Ralph William Henry Schuety will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fayette, with the Rev. Herbert Biermann officiating. Burial will be in Lima Cemetery, rural Fayette. Friends may call from 4 until 8p.m. Saturday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Fayette, and one hour before services Sunday at the church.
Mr. Schuety, 82, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 12, 1997, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, after a stroke.
He was born Aug. 31, 1915, in Read Township, Clayton County, the son of John and Nelda Kalke Schuety. He attended country school through the eighth grade in Clayton County. He later continued his education, receiving his GED at age 63.
He married Evelyn Seedorf. To this union, two sons, Ramon and Robert, were born. The couple later divorced. He then married Margie Cline Oct. 18, 1942 in Chicago. Mr. Schuety worked in a Chicago defense plant during World War II. After the war, he and his wife moved to Frog Hollow, rural Fayette County, where they farmed and he was a milk hauler. He retired from hauling milk in 1987. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Margie; three sons, Ramon of Helen, Mont., Robert of Raymond, and John of Sioux Falls, SD.; four daughters, Dorothea Cox of Gatesville, Texas, Carroll Smith of Waverly, Jean Steggall of Ripon, Wis., and Beverly Lundeen of Minneapolis, Minn.; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Erma Franz of Lake Villa, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Barry Schuety, 1980; one brother, Harley, 1945, fighting in World War II; and one sister, Orvilda Thomas, 1995.
