PORTLAND, Ore. - Former Maynard resident, Vernon Arthur Bauer, 74, of Portland, Ore., died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997. Funeral services will be in Portland.
He was born April 29, 1923, in Oelwein, the son of Arthur and Martha Goldsberry Bauer. He attended school in Oelwein and Maynard, graduating in 1941 from Maynard High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 through 1946. He became employed in Camas, Wash., later moving to Portland where he made his home.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Delores; two sisters, Frances (Donald) Schrader of Maynard, and LaVonne Arnold of Oelwein; an uncle, Clarence (Marie) Bauer of Oelwein; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marilyn Little of Elgin.
