OELWEIN - Margaret E. Kolb, 78, died following a sudden illness Friday, Jan. 12, 2007.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.

The Geilenfeld Funeral Home is handling arrangements where visitation was held Sunday.

Margaret Elizabeth Kolb, daughter of Frank J. and Bernice L. (Gardner) Kolb, was born March 23, 1928, in Oelwein. She grew up in Oelwein and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1946. After graduation, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Cedar Rapids. Margaret then moved to California where she lived for several years working as an office manager for Founders Insurance Company. After she returned form California, she attended Young's Beauty School in Waterloo and worked at Millers Beauty Shop in Oelwein until her retirement.

Margaret enjoyed quilting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, participating in Catholic Daughters of the Americas and other church activities. She was very close to her sisters and all of her nieces and nephews. Margaret had many friends and a great family. All will miss her very much.

She is survived by her three sisters, Loretta Gust of Eau Claire, Wis., Dorothy Kane and Joan Hernandez, both of Oelwein; her two brothers, John Kolb and his wife, Martha of Cedar Rapids and Frank Kolb and his wife, Carol of Moline, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers-in-law, Herb Gust, Jack Kane and Robert Hernandez.
