OELWEIN - Dorothy J. Jenkins, 95, of Oelwein, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Grandview HealthCare Center in Oelwein, after a short term illness.

Funeral services will be held at a later date, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.

The Geilenfeld Funeral Home of Oelwein is assisting the family.

Dorothy J. Schneider was born March 13, 1911, in Oelwein, the daughter of George and Jane (Smith) Schneider. She married Benjamin L. Jenkins on Nov. 27, 1929, in Oelwein. Dorothy was a lifelong Oelwein resident and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Robert Hurst of Oelwein; three granddaughters, Suzette Foster of Muscatine, Rebecca Dorcher of Council Bluffs and Stephanie Taylor of Hazel Green, Ala.; a grandson Edward Jenkins of Harvest, Ala.; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a very special friend and niece, Shirley Reed of Oelwein.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin in 1987; two daughters, Georgia Lee and Jeanne Hurst; her son, Edward; seven brothers, one sister and her parents.
