Chrystol Hansen

Chrystol L. Hansen, age 85, of Durant, IA died on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

Chrystol Miller was born January 14, 1922 to Christian "C.C." and Louise (Hofer) Miller in Clermont, IA. She married Keith B. Thoma on June 18, 1942 in Hobbs, NM. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1957. She married Oliver A. Hansen on April 18, 1959 in Clermont, IA.

She graduated from Clermont High School in 1939 and attended Upper Iowa University, Fayette, IA, majoring in home economics and music.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Durant. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Elgin, IA where she played the organ. She served as a director of the Farmer's Savings Bank of Clermont and West Union, IA for several years. She was a member of the Durant American Legion Auxillary. She enjoyed traveling, reading, entertaining and following the Cyclones and Hawkeyes. Above all she loved her family and the time she spent with them.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2007 from 3 to 8 P.M. at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at 9:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Durant, IA.

Following services in Durant a visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. at the Schutte Funeral Chapel,Clermont, IA with graveside services immediately following at God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, IA.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Oliver Hansen of Durant, IA, sons: Michael and Lana Thoma of LeClaire, IA, Jeffrey Thoma and Bonnie Staggs of Durant, IA, Christie and Carol Thoma of Durant, IA, Tom and Trudy Hansen of Enoch, UT and Ron and Kristy Hansen of Durant, IA, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Keith Thoma, her sister, Grace Simek, her granddaughter, Brandi Thoma and her son, Mark Hansen.

Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Durant, IA, the First Baptist Church of Elgin, IA or a local charity of your choice.
