Suellen Short Tempus
NORA SPRINGS - Funeral services for Suellen Short Tempus will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct 9, at the First United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Richard Pippert officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in the Stanley Cemetery, Stanley. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m., today (Tuesday) at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday.
Mrs. Tempus, 41, died Monday, Oct. 7, 1996, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, after a three-year battle with breast cancer.
She was born Sept. 15, 1955, in Oelwein, the daughter of Glenn and Katherine (Hughes) Short. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1973 and the American Institute of Business, Des Moines, in 1974. On Dec. 9, 1978, she married David Tempus at Grace United Methodist Church, Oelwein. A homemaker and mother, Mrs. Tempus also did counted cross-stitch and played cards. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and UMW, Chapter EA P E.0. Sisterhood, Clear Lake, a Rainbow Girl Worthy Advisor, and a member of the Grand Cross.
Survivors include her husband, David; two children, Marcella Tempus and Brandon Tempus, both of Nora Springs; her mother, Katherine Short of Clear Lake; three sisters, Jean (Frank) Giarraffa of St. Louis, Beth (Rich) Shaw of Mason City, and Karen (Paul) Henely of Algona; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn; one nephew; and grandparents.
