Charles Shepherd
COLORADO Springs, Colo. - Charles Floyd Shepherd, 73, formerly of Oelwein, died Sept 25, 1996, in Colorado Springs.
He was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Oelwein, the son of Richard and Elsie (Michaels) Shepherd. He attended Oelwein schools until induction into the Army in 1942. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a civilian at Fort Carson, Colo., after his retirement from the Army. He was a former Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 101.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; one son, Charles F. Jr. of Deland, Fla.; one daughter, Charlotte of Rock Springs, Wyo.; and nine grandchildren. Survivors in Oelwein are a brother, Richard Shepherd and a sister, Lucile Zolczynski.
Memorial services were held at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, Sept 28.
