CLERMONT - Funeral services for Gerald LeRoy Blockhus were held Monday, June 30, at Elgin Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kathleen Soldwisch officiating. Burial was in the Elgin Cemetery.
The Leonard Funeral Home, Elgin, was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Blockhus, 65, died at his home in Clermont, Friday, June 27, 1997, after a long illness.
He was born May 28, 1932, in Elgin, the son of Otto and Ella (Friederich) Blockhus. He graduated from Elgin High School. On Oct. 19, 1951, he married Anna Pape at East Clermont Lutheran Church. He had been a farmer and worked light construction. He was a longtime member of Elgin Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; two sons, Gary Lee (Barbara) of Clermont, and Scott Wayne (Christy) of Elgin; four daughters, Susan Kay (LaVerne) Osterhus of Mt. Home, Ark., Deon Marie (William) McGee of Decorah, Marsha Ann (Richard) Swenson of Clermont, and Renea LuAnn (Wesley) Wood of Sumner; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Burnell (Kirsten) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Otis (Colleen) of Burnsville, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
