OELWEIN - Funeral services for James Francis Geistkemper, rural Oelwein, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, where there will be a scripture service at 7 p.m.
Mr. Geistkemper, 47, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, near his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1950 at Manchester, the son of Elmer and Evelyn (Mormann) Geistkemper. He graduated from Oelwein High School in 1969. On May 1, 1971, he married Joyce Arthur at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein. He was a long time area farmer and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cattlemen's Association, Pork Producers, 4-H Scott Hot Shots, and the Oelwein Husky Booster Club.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Jodi and Julie, at Iowa State University, Ames; one son, Joshua, at home; two sisters, Mary Jane (Gary) Lein of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Joyce (Brian) Kienast of Hudson; one brother, Joseph Lee (Miriam) of Dundee; and his father, Elmer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn (April 17 , 1997) and grandparents.
A memorial fund has been established.
