OELWEIN - Funeral services for Kenneth E. "Willie" Wilson will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Floral Hills Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Worcester officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Wilson, 84, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 9, 1998, at Grandview HealthCare Center, Oelwein, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Nov. 2, 1913, in Illinois, the son of Albert and Mabel Kirby Wilson. He married Edith Miller Jan. 17, 1943. She preceded him in death in 1971. He then married Marie Folkers in 1972 and she preceded him in death in 1988. He resided in Cedar Falls for a time, and then returned to Oelwein in 1996. He married Virginia Kane in the fall of 1996. Mr. Wilson was a longtime Oelwein resident and had been an auto mechanic at Iowa Motor Company for 45 years.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; seven children, Delbert of Oelwein, Harry (Doris) of Denver, Lyle (Esther) of Dyersville, Elaine (Gary) Suhr of Decorah, Bill (Janet) of Strawberry Point, Wayne (Becky) of Ankeny, and Mary (Jere) Vyverberg of Decorah; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; Linda (Dennis) Bachman of Maynard, Diane (Ed) Linder and Shirley (John) Phillips, both of Oelwein, John (Sheila Ohl) Chapman of Manchester, and James Kane of Waterloo; 11 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Edith and Marie; and four brothers, Keith, Richard, Emory and Earl.
