OELWEIN - Funeral services for Harley J. Helmuth will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick C. Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 1 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Helmuth, 39, died at his rural Oelwein home Thursday evening, April 30, 1998.
He was born Nov. 26, 1958, in Oelwein, the son of Jonas A. and Ada J. (Helmuth) Helmuth. He married Karen Kisner on Oct. 5, 1984, at Oelwein. Mr. Helmuth worked for Donaldson in Oelwein and raised horses.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; two sons, Gregory and John, and daughter, Lyndee Marie, all at home; his mother, Ada Helmuth Miller and stepfather, Clarence Miller; two sisters, Katie (Abe) Raber and Martha (Daniel) Yoder; and three brothers, Eli (Mary) Mast, Rudy (Lydia) Gingerich, and Freeman (Mary) Miller.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Jonas. A memorial fund has been established.
