OELWEIN - Funeral services for Ruth Rosie May Johnson will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with the Rev. Phyllis Wolkenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral home.
Mrs. Johnson, 71, died Monday morning, Feb. 9, 1998, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein, after a sudden illness.
She was born May 12,1926,in Westgate,the daughter of Earl and Erna (Schmitt) Faust. She married Gerald Keister "Jake" Johnson on July 25, 1970, in Hazleton. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and longtime Oelwein resident.
Survivors include two sons, Carl (Joyce) King of Independence, and Paul King of Oelwein; five daughters, Patty (Carl) McKiernan of Las Vegas, Nev., Carol Markin of Independence, Cathy (Larry) Bartles of Dubuque, Paula (Edward) Beesecker of Cassville, Wis., and Angie (Richard) Woods of Oelwein; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six brothers, Robert, LaVern, Larry, Gerald and Derald Faust, of Oelwein, and Lloyd Faust of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake, Jan. 7, 1994; one brother, Alvin Faust; a daughter-in-law, Becky King; and two grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
