OELWEIN - Funeral services for Ruby Madeline Miller will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with the, Rev. Robert Elam officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 2 until 5 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Miller, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Manchester, the daughter of John Will and Emma Jean (Gentz) Slater. She married Virgil DeForest Miller on Nov. 24, 1949, at Independence. Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and did house cleaning for the elderly. She had formerly attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Hazleton.
Survivors include three sons, Tim (Michelle) of Independence, Bill (Konnie) of Hazleton, and Dick (Stella) of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vi (Ed) Fiddlar of Cordova, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Virgil, Dec. 30, 1996, a granddaughter, Marlo; two brothers, Thomas Welsh and Charles Slater; and four sisters, Fern Sullivan, Ethel Sharpe, Hazel Anderson and Mae Ladd.
