OELWEIN - Funeral services for Lucille Frances Schmidt will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick Fangmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, where there will be a C.D.A. rosary at 4:30p.m. and a parish scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Schmidt, 82, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at Mercy's Living Plus, Oelwein, after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1916, at St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Becker) Doerr. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Oelwein, in 1934. She married Paul Leo Adair on Oct. 26, 1936, at Oelwein. She later married Alphonse H. Schmidt on Oct. 11, 1975, at Oelwein. Mrs. Schmidt worked at Connors' Department Store in Oelwein for more than 20 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rita 321.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Eldon) Fratzke of Waterloo, and Shirley (Bill) O'Hara of Des Moines; one son, Thomas Joseph (Katherine) Adair of Backus, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Judy Pennisten of Peebles, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Paul Leo Adair in 1973, and Alphonse Schmidt, Aug. 27, 1996; and one sister, Agnes Doerr.
A memorial fund has been established for Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
