OELWEIN - Funeral services for Delbert F. Kelley will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, with the Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer Officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, with Military graveside rites by the Strawberry Point American Legion Post 218. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour before services on Monday.
Mr. Kelley, 69, died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Manchester, the son of Asa and Georgeanna (Elsburg) Kelley. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1945. Mr. Kelley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Ruth Binning on Nov. 15, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Edgewood. Mr. Kelley was a farmer, and then worked for Henderson Manufacturing and St Regis Paper Company of Dubuque, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Strawberry Point American Legion Post 218.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one daughter, Patricia (Stringfellow) Hawk of Sioux City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Winistopher of Manchester, and Grace Brady of Greeley; and two brothers, Vernon Kelley of Arlington, and Floyd Kelley of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Esther Winistopher; and one brother Harold Kelley.
